Meet the team

Dr. Avery Sutton founded Pine Ridge Orthodontics with a simple belief: that great orthodontic care should feel personal, unhurried, and genuinely kind. Board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics — a distinction held by roughly one in three orthodontists — she brings more than a decade of clear-aligner and self-ligating-braces experience to every treatment plan she designs.

A Oregon native, Dr. Sutton earned both her dental degree and her orthodontic specialty certificate at UNC Chapel Hill before returning to the mountains she loves. She’s known among patients for mapping out the entire treatment journey up front, so families always understand the “why” behind each step.

Outside the office, she’s usually on a trail above the French Broad with her two kids and an aging golden retriever, or hunting down the best cortado in West Bend.

Dr. Jordan Hale joined Pine Ridge Orthodontics drawn by its emphasis on conservative, airway-conscious treatment. He completed his orthodontic residency at VCU, where he developed a particular interest in how jaw development and breathing shape a child’s long-term health.

Patients appreciate his calm, methodical chairside manner — and parents appreciate that he explains things in plain language. He sees orthodontics as far more than straight teeth: it’s about function, comfort, and confidence that lasts.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Hale is restoring a stubborn 1970s camper van and coaching his daughter’s youth soccer team.
